Projet néon Nexus - Julian Petit (ARTS² - Be)

NEON NEXUS PROJECT places the user in full control of the surrounding lighting in the futuristic city of the same name.

This city represents the ultimate culmination of human evolution, complete with flying cars, flashy lighting, and oversized advertisements. NEON NEXUS is, so to speak, a city that never sleeps.

The user is invited to interact with this myriad of lights, positioning themselves as an equal to the most powerful entity. On their own scale, they exercise absolute control over what is now one of the most fundamental elements for survival: electricity.

Julian Petit

Born on November 22, 2004, in Charleroi, Julian Petit is an artist passionate about pop culture. After completing training in graphic design, he is currently pursuing studies in digital art at the Carré des Arts in Mons.

Inspired by various popular media such as cinema, series, animation, comics, video games, music, and more…

Julian incorporates these influences into his artistic creations, reflecting his unique and personal universe.

Les petites boites - Angèle Verbeeren (ARTS² - Be)

The artist tells herself stories, she creates films in her mind.

In her universe, tiny humans, each immersed in their own small existence, live, create, feel, and dance. She imagines scenes where ordinary routines nestle, secret misfortunes unfold, and hidden pains lie beneath.

And yet, in this space, happy details, buried stories, and other subtle wonders also coexist.

In this imaginary world, the artist brings to life a place where we exist and coexist, yet never truly cross paths. She creates a small cardboard city, built from discarded materials and forgotten things, a symbol of the fleeting and the insignificant.

It’s a reflection of what we all leave behind: of ourselves, of others, of everything that comes and fades away.

Angèle Verbeeren

A student at Carré des Arts, Angèle Verbeeren harbors a deep passion for films and animated features. What draws her in are the colorful, soft, poetic, and sometimes absurd worlds.

She enjoys focusing on the small things in life, giving new life to what is often forgotten, whether it be memories or discarded objects.

Through digital arts, Angèle constantly seeks ways to make this imaginary world even more alive, breathing new life into these fragments of the everyday, offering them a second chance to exist in a reinvented form.

Chant des cloches - Tracy Galiby (ESA Dunkerque/Tourcoing - Fr)

This soundscape, broadcast in a setup reminiscent of the comfort of a living room, explores the relationship between sound and image. Instead of the usual television screen, the audience discovers the surface of water reflecting the image of the sounds being played.

Tracy shares with us the spatial and temporal environment evoked by the sounds of bells, chimes, and birdsong near her family home. These sounds, which usually seep into our homes and eventually go unnoticed, are here magnified.

This immersive piece presents sound as a generator of images. As Bernie Krause demonstrated, a soundscape can be more evocative than a photograph. The viewer is invited to experience this poetic journey and observe the images that the sound installation brings to mind.

Tracy Galiby

Tracy Galiby is a fine arts student. In 2020, after completing a scientific program, she decided to explore contemporary art by enrolling at the ESA in Tourcoing.

She has had the opportunity to exhibit her work at the Platform Project contemporary art fair in Athens in 2022, as well as in the group exhibition *Résonances* in Mons in 2024.

Primarily working with painting and sculpture, she chose to shape space through sound installations after obtaining her DNA (National Diploma of Art).

Faune & Flore - Florence Poppe (Beaux Arts de Tournai - Be)

The immersive multimedia installation takes the form of an overhead projection and aims to transport the audience to an imaginary setting evoking a waterfront, where each viewer is invited to sit and let their thoughts drift. The artist creates a space conducive to daydreaming, inviting everyone to merge their own inner world with Florence’s, thus blurring the boundaries between personal imagination and that of the artist.

Florence Poppe

Florence is a young Belgian artist currently in her first year of a master’s program at the Beaux-Arts in Tournai, where she focuses her artistic practice on immersive installations.

In her works, she invites the audience to dive into a dreamlike world, a poetic exploration of her imagination. Her creations encourage spectators to reconnect with their own mental wandering, daydreaming, and fantasy, bringing them back to a playful and spontaneous mindset, reminiscent of the freedom to imagine that we had as children.

Through these artistic proposals, Florence aims to create a dialogue between her imagination and that of the audience, offering a space where each person can reclaim their ability to daydream.

Magnolia – Délia Duée (ESA Tournai – Be)

Particularly influenced by Japanese animation, Délia has developed a universe of her own. *Magnolia*, her final study project, is a short film of about ten minutes, entirely created by her, from scriptwriting to directing and editing. It is presented here in the form of a projection at the Maison de la Marionnette.

Délia Duée

During her studies at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts de Tournai, Délia Duée became passionate about traditional animation drawing. Throughout her academic journey, she was able to refine her techniques and develop a unique style that incorporates both Western and Eastern influences.

Quando me junta a outra vida - Thomas Ferreira (ESA Dunkerque/Tourcoing - Fr)

“Quando me junta a outra vida” is an interactive installation in the form of a video game. This installation presents a non-linear narrative, blending personal memory with alternative stories. It originates from an intimate exploration of the traces left by both familial and collective history, while also questioning the possible divergences of the past.

This interactive installation relies on a sensory immersion, where a granite slab, heated to body temperature, becomes the medium for a journey through a virtual map of the Gerês park. Spectators discover fragmented narratives, triggered by their movements, oscillating between historical reality and speculative fictions. The map, while functional, is still in development to integrate the narrative elements mentioned here.

This piece was supported by the material assistance grant from Esä Tourcoing in 2024.

Thomas Ferreira

Born in 1999 in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, Thomas Ferreira moved to Lille in 2018. His artistic work lies at the intersection of science and technology, blending photography, performance, and coding to create immersive installations, images, and performances. He holds a DNSEP from Esä (Tourcoing) and a degree in visual arts from the University of Lille. He has collaborated on several projects with the university, notably with engineers from Polytech’Lille, the SCAlab laboratory, and soon the IRHIS laboratory.

In 2023, his work was recognized with the *Révélations* prize at the Lille Artup! contemporary art fair. He has also exhibited in various spaces throughout the Lille European Metropolis (MEL), including Galerie les 3 Lacs (Villeneuve-d’Ascq), Espace Culture (Villeneuve-d’Ascq), Artconnexion (Lille), Lille Grand Palais, Galerie Commune (Tourcoing), and La Condition Publique (Roubaix).
