Transcultures, Interdisciplinary Center for Sound and Digital Cultures (Artistic Director: Philippe Franck) is born in 1996 in order to promote and develop crossings between contemporary artistic practices and arts/society/technology stakes; focusing in particular on sound art and digital cultures. Since 2008, Transcultures is settled in Mons (Belgium) working on production, distribution, public awareness for those new hybrid artisti forms.
Transcultures has launched City Sonic, international sound art festival (in Mons since 2003) and Les Transnumériques, biennale of digital cultures (in Mons, Brussels,…since 2005) and developped many European and international projects. The M4m project proposes residencies for young artists and professionnals of culture as well as workshops in the 7 partners/countries and a final forum in Prague in mid April with all the participants.
This residency at Transcultures will focus on digital arts and cultures. The resident will work with a technician during this 2 week working time hosted by the Institute of Research for Technology & Arts Numediart at the University of Mons, partner of Transcultures.
