La culture – et plus particulièrement dans ses aspects les plus vivants et audacieux – a souvent été le parent pauvre des urgences du confinement. Celui-ci a pourtant nourri notre insatiable besoin de pensées, sons, images, flux autres… au milieu des consignes répétées et des tableaux morbides.
Après avoir lancé des actions et soutenus plusieurs projets ces derniers mois (notamment avec l’action No Lockdown Art qui s’est montré particulièrement fructueuse au sein de notre programme Creaconnexions), nous continuons donc à vous les faire découvrir ce mois-ci, fièrement, comme autant d’étendards de résistance poétique (d’autres projets seront mis en évidence pendant l’été).
D’autres projets collectifs et participatifs : The Common Ground Project ; Fenêtres d’écoute, dans sa deuxième phase ; Correspondances confinées… continueront à se développer dans les prochains mois agrégeant de belles contributions issues des quatre coins de la planète déconfite.
Les musées rouvrent et dans la foulée, l’exposition « Digital Icons » à La Louvière dans le cadre de notre biennale des cultures et émergences numériques Transnumériques prolongée jusque fin août. L’occasion, là aussi, de rencontrer et de soutenir le travail d’artistes qui questionnent notre rapport complexe a ce « retour à l’a/normale » dans ce « monde d’après » qui dépend plus que jamais de notre engagement.
Culture -and more particularly in its most lively and adventurous aspects- has often been the poor relation of consignment emergencies. However, it fed our insatiable need for thoughts, sounds, images, inspiring flows… in the midst of repeated instructions and morbid pictures.
After launching actions and supporting several projects in recent months (especially with the No Lockdown Art action which has been particularly successful within our Creaconnections program), we’re continuing to show them this month, proudly, like so many flags of poetic resistance (and others will be highlighted during the summer).
Other collective and participative projects : The Common ground project ; Listening Windows, in its second phase ; Confined correspondences… will continue to develop in the coming months, aggregating great contributions from around the world.
The museums reopen and, in the process, the exhibition « Digital Icons » at La Louvière (as part of our biennial of digital cultures and emergencies, Transnumeriques) extended until the end of August. A good opportunity also to meet and support the work of artists who question our complex relationship to this « return to the ab/normal » in this « world after… » which depends more than ever on our commitment.

L’exposition Digital Icons proposée, dans le cadre de la biennale Transnumériques, par Transcultures en partenariat avec Central et le MiLL, a réouvert début juin (après un court démarrage en mars interrompu par les mesures anti Covid-19) jusque fin août.
Philippe Franck et Jacques Urbanska (commissaires artistiques) ont conçu une manifestation autour des mutations et des traductions -d’un médium à l’autre- de l’image-signe, l’image-donnée, l’image/réseau.
Quel regard les artistes contemporains portent-il sur ces « data » qui composent les icônes d’aujourd’hui et de demain, objets de vénération d’une société où le paraître devient l’être. Comment les révèlent-ils, les détournent-ils, les métamorphosent-ils ?
Reopening of the Exhibition Digital Icons
The exhibition Digital Icons offered, as part of the Transnumeriques biennial initiated by Transcultures in partnership with Central (cultural centre) and MiLL (museum), has reopen in early June (after a short start-up in March which was then interrupted by anti-Covid-19 measures) until the end of August.

Pour la première fois, Transcultures s’associe, à partir de mai 2020, à la biennale internationale de la poésie initiée par le Centre des cultures et de ressources Lizières (Hauts de France) et qui met à l’honneur les arts littéraires, sonores, visuels et intermédiatiques.
Cette seconde édition qui a lieu d’abord en ligne puis dès que le déconfinement le permet fera l’objet d’une exposition et de performances live, met l’accent sur les liens entre poésie et – au sens large – bande dessinée (qui sont aussi proposés à des artistes issus de différents pays qui viennent en résidences à Lizières pour cette occasion).
Transcultures est associé à une partie de la programmation de la biennale (tant pour l’aspect en ligne, que live), proposant des artistes internationaux, auteurs, performeurs et créateurs sonores, visuels et intermédiatiques.
La participation en ligne se fait sous la forme – libre sur le fond et l’esthétique – de 3 visuels carrés (texte, photo, dessin…) associés en triptyque.
For the first time, from May 2020, Transcultures is joining the international poetry biennial initiated by the Centre of cutlures and ressources Lizières (North of France) and which celebrates the various contemporary forms of literary, sound, visual and intermedia arts.

Dans cette période tristement unique (mais susceptible d’annoncer d’autres catastrophes), de nombreux artistes de toute origine ont refusé la quarantaine de l’expression partagée. Ils ont exprimé à la fois un besoin de se relier à un autre public (connecté) et de sortir tant de la peur et de la paralysie que du “tout à l’égo”.
Désirant s’associer à cette dynamique libertaire et donner soutien et visibilité à des oeuvres différenciées en ligne, Transcultures a proposé un soutien à la production à plusieurs artistes pour des projets à court, moyen, ou long termes. De plus en partenariat avec les Pépinières européennes de Création, un appel à projet No Lockdown Art (NoLA) a été lancé à la mi-avril, ce dernier s’est engagé activement à soutenir de nombreuses initiatives d’artistes en confinement.
Dans le cadre de son nouveau programme parapluie Creaconnections, Transcultures a soutenu, avec l’action NoLA, le ré-activitisme d’artistes belges et internationaux qui ont initié, en période de confinement, d’intéressants projets audio, vidéo, multimédia… en ligne et diffusent librement leurs singularités et regards poétiques aux curieux connectés.
In this sadly unique period (but likely to herald other disasters), many artists of all origins refused the quarantine of the shared expression. They express both a need to connect with another (connected) audience and to get out of both fear and paralysis as well as from the « all in the ego ».
Desiring to join this libertarian dynamic and give support and visibility to differentiated works online, Transcultures has launched a support program open to artists for short, medium or long term projects. In addition, in partnership with the European Pepinieres of Creation, a No Lockdown Art (NoLA) call for projects was launched in mid-April, which aims to support a dozen initiatives by artists in confinement.
Within the framework of its Creaconnections Program, Transcultures has supported the re-activitism of Belgian and international artists who have initiated, during periods of confinement, interesting audio, video, multimedia… projects online and freely disseminate their singularities and poetic look to the curious and connected people.

Dans le cadre du projet participatif No Lockdown Art (NoLA), Transcultures et les Pépinières européennes de Création ont demandé à plusieurs auteurs/artistes de différents pays (dont Catrine Godin – Québec, Habiba Sheikh-USA, Philippe Boisnard-France, Eric Therer, Christophe Bailleau – Belgique, Maja Jantar – Pays-Bas/Belgique) d’écrire pendant la période de confinement leurs impressions poétiques, réflexions, interrogations…
Ces contributions « confinées » ont été centralisées au fur et à mesure via une plateforme Web, certaines sous forme « de « journal » ou « correspondance », d’autres sous forme de textes parfois accompagnés de documents visuels, multimédia… selon l’humeur et/ou la nécessité.
Une première sélection de cette matière a été rassemblée sous le nom de No Lockdown – Sonopoetics, en vue d’une publication de pièces sonores réalisées par Paradise Now à partir des textes lus par leurs auteurs, sur l’alter label Transonic, dans sa série Sonopoetics dédiée aux créations mêlant poésie/littérature vivante et création sonore.
Dans le courant de l’été 2020, une deuxième sélection de textes fera l’objet d’une publication papier et d’une mise en son.
A terme, ces “Correspondances confinées” seront matière de plusieurs objets hybrides qui s’intégreront dans les productions multimédias de l’alter label Transonic produit par Transcultures.
In the framework of the participative project No Lockdown Art (NoLA), Transcultures and The European Pepinieres of Creation have commissioned several authors/artists from different countries (Catrine Godin – Quebec, Habibah Sheikh-USA, Philippe Boisnard-France, Eric Therer, Werner Moron, Christophe Bailleau – Belgium, Maja Jantar – The Netherlands/Belgium, …) to write their poetic impressions, thoughts, interrogations during the recent lockdown period.
These « confined » contributions were centralized via a Web platform, some in the form of « diary » or « correspondence », others in the form of texts sometimes with visual documents, multimedia… depending on mood and/or need. A first selection will be published in June on the Transcultures website.
All of these original contributions (texts + visuals, sounds or other multimedia sources) will be posted on the Transcultures website during the Summer 2020 and for some will be published later as a paper publication.
Furthermore, a selection of this material read by their authors will be musically adapted by sound artist/producer Paradise Now (Be/Fr) for his coming album No Lockdown Sonopoetics (on the Transonic label, as part of its Sonopoetics series).
These pieces will be progressively available on bandcamp before the release of the final album.

AGORA-OFF-ON – Espace culturel et festival pour les arts confinés

Dans le cadre de leur programme d’oeuvres et projets en ligne Creaconnections et le projet NoLA (No Lockdown Art), Transcultures et Pépinières Européennes de Création ont soutenu AGORA-OFF, imaginé et conçu par les artistes Antoine Méthivier, Pierre-Marie PEM Braye-Weppe et Arnaud NANO Méthivier, pour assurer une continuité culturelle pendant la période de confinement imposée par le Covid-19 et la fermeture de tous les établissements culturels physiques en France et à l’étranger.
Cet espace culturel, dématérialisé, se propose d’être un lieu infini, qui explore et expérimente des processus collectifs pour habiter le monde et construire des communs. C’est un lieu ouvert qui instaure des espaces de liberté ou se cherchent des alternatives, un espace difficile à définir car son caractère principal est l’ouverture sur l’imprévu pour construire sans fin, le possible à venir. Et enfin, comme une Agora, ce lieu d’échange international se situe dans toutes les villes du monde. Un espace où tous les univers s’entremêlent, multi-disciplinaire où tout est possible.
Dès le 16 mars et jusqu’au 10 mai 2020, AGORA-OFF a accueilli la première édition du Festival des Arts Confinés, 1er festival dédié aux créations confinées inédites, ainsi qu’un Campus pour étudiants et intervenants en école d’art, et d’autres évènements. Plus de 300 œuvres inédites créées en confinement, du Japon aux Etats-Unis, de la Tunisie à l’Angleterre qui sont aujourd’hui toujours consultable en ligne.
Lundi 11 mai à 0H00, AGORA-OFF est devenu AGORA-ON, un lieu dédié à tous les créateurs confinés de façon permanente ou temporaire (en maisons d’arrêt, prisons, camps d’internements, d’immigrations ou de réfugiés, en centre de rétention administrative en hôpitaux à moyen ou long séjour, hôpitaux psychiatriques, EHPAD) et créateurs Isolés, reclus, coupés du monde etc…
In the framework of their “Creaconnections’ online program and the call for proposals/creation/distribution ‘NoLA (No Lockdown Art)” project, Transcultures and the European Pepinieres of Creation are happy to support the cultural space project « AGORA-OFF », imagined and designed by the artists Antoine Méthivier, Pierre-Marie PEM Braye-Weppe and Arnaud NANO Méthivier. This project will ensure cultural continuity during the lockdown period imposed by Covid-19 despite the cultural institutions’ temporary closing down in France and abroad. This dematerialized cultural space aims to be an infinite place which explores and experiences collective processes to inhabit the world and build in common. An open place that implies spaces of freedom and seeks alternatives, a place, which is difficult to define because its main point is a doorway to the unexpected in order to build endlessly the possibilities to come. Finally like an Agora, it is a place of international exchange which is located in all the cities of the world. It is an experience that may seem precarious but above all concrete, joyful and inclusive, a multi-disciplinary space where all the universes get mixed up and where everything is possible.
From March 16 until May 10, 2020, AGORA-OFF hosted the first edition of the Festival des Arts Confinés, the 1st festival dedicated to original confined creations, as well as a Campus for students and speakers in art schools, and other events.More than 300 unpublished works created in confinement, from Japan to the United States, from Tunisia to England which are still available online today.
Monday May 11 at 00:00, AGORA-OFF became AGORA-ON, a place dedicated to all creators permanently or temporarily confined (in remand centers, prisons, internment, immigration or refugee camps, in administrative detention center in medium or long-stay hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, nursing homes) and Isolated creators, confined, cut off from the world, etc.

Transcultures et son alter label Transonic soutiennent le projet Travel without moving initié en période de confinement par l’artiste sonore belge Ludovic Medery. Celui-ci est décliné en plusieurs épisodes qui paraissent mensuellement. Après avoir publié en mars, le premier épisode pilote d’une heure, les épisodes se suivront tout au long de de cette série sonore qui balisera l’été.
Voyager sans se déplacer est un montage sonore de field recording réalisé durant les voyages, balades et explorations de sites, une fiction naturaliste à écouter au casque ou sur chaîne hi-fi afin de profiter au mieux du voyage.
Transcultures and its alter label Transonic support the ‘Travel without moving project’ initiated during the lockdown period by Belgian sound artist Ludovic Medery. This will be available in several episodes monthly. After sharing the first “pilot” episode in March, here is the link of episodes 1 > 3 created and published by Ludovic Medery.
Traveling without moving is a montage of field recording made during Ludovic Médery (Belgian sound artist) travels, walks and site explorations, a naturalist fiction to listen to with headphones or on hi-fi system in order to make the most of the journey.
Desartsonnants Fenêtres d’écoute/Listening windows (Field recording)
Dans le cadre de l’action NoLA – No Lockdown Art 2020, lancé par Transcultures et les Pépinières européennes de Création, les 2 partenaires ont été très heureux de s’associer au projet initié au début du confinement par leur complice Gilles Malatray (animateur/fondateur de desartsonnants) qui a invité à développer des formes de “Points d’ouïe” adaptés aux circonstances contraignantes. Inspiré par les performances chantées et musicales des fenêtres et balcons italiens, mixés à ses propres points d’ouïe et autres bancs d’écoute, desartsonnants a lancé un appel collaboratif et participatif.
Après cette première phase pendant laquelle ont été collectées des captations sonores de différentes villes, pays, voire continents, témoignages d’écoutes enfermés, confinées… réunie par Gilles Malatray et consultable par tout un chacun sur une plateforme dédiée, les partenaires lance la 2ème phase créative et participative du projet.
Par le biais d’un appel à création sonore, des artistes, compositeurs, créateurs sonores, sont invités à s’emparer des matières audio collectées et mises en ligne, à s’en approprier pour ré-écrire à leur façon de nouvelles histoires, récits plus ou moins abstraits, poétiques, paysages sonores… faisant traces de la crise (sanitaire, économique, sociétale…) que nous traversons.
Les œuvres seront progressivement mises en ligne pendant pendant l’été sur le soundcloud du Label Transonic. Une compilation sélective en sera extraite sous forme d’album qui sera publiée par le label Transonic.
Par ailleurs, certaines créations pourront être diffusées lors d’événements liés aux activités de Transcultures et des Pépinières européennes de Création sous forme de dispositifs audio environnementales (selon le contexte) et/ou de performances live avec la participation de certains créateurs ayant contribué à cette seconde phase.
Transcultures and the European Pepinieres of Creation are pleased to be associated with the project initiated at the start of the lockdown by their accomplice Gilles Malatray (animator / founder of desartsonnants) who invites to develop forms of “Hearing Points” adapted to the constraining circumstances. Inspired by the sung and musical performances of Italian windows and balconies, mixed at my own hearing points and other listening benches, Desartsonnants have therefore launched a collaborative and participative call for an ongoing project/online platform called Listening windows.
The partners are now launching a new call for proposal open to composer, sound artists and musicians to create new sound pieces from the field recordings and sound material gathered in the first phase of this project.

Projet multimedia collaboratif – collaborative multimedia project
Dans le cadre de NoLA – No Lockdown Art 2020, le projet “Common Ground”, initiée par l’artiste Kika Nicolela pendant le confinement, propose la création d’une base de données grandissante, avec la collaboration d’artistes du monde entier, partageant des pièces vidéo, sonores et / ou textuelles. Le principal objectif immédiat était de collecter un instantané large et varié de ce qui se passe en ce moment à différents endroits du monde, de la façon dont les gens font face à ces immenses changements au sein de leur routine, mais surtout, comment nous pouvons imaginer et adapter le monde après le(s) confinement(s).
Cette base de données (qui a le potentiel de se développer comme un virus puisque l’artiste/commissaire brésilienne basée en Belgique, Kika Nicolela a déjà réuni plus d’un trentaine d’artistes qui ont répondu à l’invitation-défi du projet Common Ground. Comment réagir et réfléchir à la crise mondiale actuelle, qui va au-delà d’une crise sanitaire -qui traverse aussi bien les sphères politiques, économiques, éthiques que métaphysiques ? Ce pourrait être l’occasion de repenser notre soi et notre réalité comme genre humain ; ou les choses pourraient toutes redevenir « normales ». Des artistes de divers coins du monde ont pris le temps de développer leurs sentiments et leurs pensées du moment et de les exprimer en vidéo, textes et sons.
Le projet Common Ground continuera donc à croître, à conquérir de nouveaux territoires et à accueillir de nouveaux participants, à s’élargir et à évoluer au fil du temps.
As part of NoLA – No Lockdown Art 2020, the “Common Ground Project », initiated and coordinated by the artist Kika Nicolela during confinement, proposes the creation of a growing database, with the collaboration of artists from around the world, sharing video, audio and/or text pieces. The main immediate goal was to collect a large and varied snapshot of what’s going on in different places in the world right now, how people are coping with these huge changes in their routine, but most importantly, how we can imagine and adapt the world after the lockdown(s).
This database has the potential to expand itself like a virus: the Belgium based Brazilian artist/curator Kika Nicolela has invited a core group of international artists. The project has already brought together more than thirty artists who have responded to the challenge invitation of the Common Ground project: how to react and reflect on the current global crisis, which goes beyond a health crisis – cutting across political, economic, ethical and metaphysical spheres.
So far, 33 artists have answered the invitation-challenge of the Common Ground Project : how to react and reflect about the current worldwide crisis, that goes beyond a sanitary crisis – it traverses the political, economical, ethical and the metaphysical spheres. It might be an opportunity to rethink ourselves and our reality as human kind ; or things could all return to « normal ». Artists from various corners of the world have taken the time to elaborate on how they are feeling and thinking right now, and expressed it in video, text and sound. The Common Ground Project will continue growing and taking new territories and embracing new participants, as well as expanding and evolving over time.

Une commande de Transcultures à Dj Snooba pour rythmer la fin du confinement avec des mix voyageurs, chaloupés et poétiques avec la participation d’inviter surprises. A écouter online ou sur les ondes de Radio Panik et de ses partenaires hertziens.

« Nous n’avons jamais voulu écrire un style spécifique; après avoir joué et partagé de la musique pendant tant d’années, en tant qu’ animateur de radio, pour des clubs et soirées culturelles, mais aussi après avoir créé « ART Radio » avec un accent sur des samples électroacoustiques et fusionnés d’électronique et d’archives. Mais encore la réalisation de documentaires radio, les ateliers de médias créatifs pour les jeunes, commissaire de listes de jeux indépendants et bien sûr le segment dynamique de la vie nocturne. L’ensemble nous prend spécialement afin que chaque processus s’intègre comme une sorte de philosophie sonore interreligieuse. On ne pense donc pas vraiment à ce qu’on fait ; ce n’est pas toujours un processus conscient, c’est souvent très naturel lors de l’intégration des processus d’apprentissage.
Avec la filiation d’activistes créatifs créolisés belges de radios arty telles que Panik, Grenouille, Campus, Canal B, FM Brussel, NTS, WFMU, hot spots culture, collage users & dj’s, Bruxelles / Gand / Anvers rues, bords et recoins, quartiers populaires , le stade de football, la Tramontane, le parc Jurassik et un patchwork de letfield mondial sonnent des conseils à un carrefour greffé à l’âme. Il s’agit simplement de comprendre l’atmosphère générale de vibrations du monde ou ce qu’on appelle « l’environnement » pour évoquer les lieux, un moment et les rituels qui s’ensuivent. Une trace fantomatique n’est pas dépourvue de spiritualité. En utilisant les options de programmation à multiples facettes, on obtient une interaction organique entre la chaleur ou le froid, à travers les fissures et la lumière.

We never set out to write a specific style; after playing & sharing music for so many years, like radio hoster as clubs & hot cultural parties fanatic, but also created »ART Radio’ with emphasizes electro- acoustic & amalgamated electronic & archives samples or including radio documentaries realisation, creative media workshops youth coaching, indie play lists curator, and of course the night life dynamic segment. The whole’s specially taking us for that each process integrates as kind of interfaith sound philosophy. So you don’t really think about what you’re doing. It’s not always a conscious process, it’s often very natural while integrating learning processes.
With filiation of belgium creative creolized pioneer activists from arty radios like Panik, Grenouille, Campus, Canal B, FM Brussel, NTS, WFMU, hot spots culture, collage users & dj’s, Brussels/Gent/Antwerp streets, edges and recesses, popular districts, football stadium, la Tramontane, Jurassik park and a patchwork of global letfield sounds tips at a crossroads engrafted to the soul. I can hear what might have influenced it. we wouldn’t say « who » it’s more « what » we’re fine tuned what outboard I needed, and what tracks & dynamic i wanted to use.

Suite à l’appel à projets #NoLA – No Lockdown Art, lancé par Transculures et les Pépinières Européennes de Création, et qui s’est clôturé le 15 mai 2020, quelques 125 candidatures ont été retenues par le comité de sélection sur plus de 400 propositions reçues sur le groupe facebook Transcultures/Pépinières. Toutes les candidatures seront postées sur les sites de Transcultures et des Pépinières. Sept candidats seront lauréats de l’appel (fin juin). Following the call for projects NoLA – No Lockdown Art, launched by Transculures and the European Pepinieres of Creation (deadline on May 15, 2020), some 125 applications were selected by the selection committee from more than 400 proposals received on the Transcultures/Pepinieres facebook group. All applications will be posted on the Transcultures and Pepinieres websites. Seven candidates will be laureates of this call (end of June). You can find below a selection of candidates.
Transcultures entame un nouveau partenariat avec Lizieres (Centre de cultures et de ressources, initié par l’artiste Ramuntcho Matta) et les Pépinières Européennes de Création pour une série de résidences artistiques en arts sonores.
Pour la première Résidence accueillie à Lizieres, Le duo franco-belge Isa Belle + Paradise Now conjugue les bols chantants, gongs, handrums, voix et guitare aux traitements électroniques du compositeur et désigner sonore bruxellois Stephan Dunkelman. Un second temps de travail et d’enregistrement est prévu en août à Lizieres et se concluera par une performance de ce nouveau trio découvert sur scène et en mode environnement dans la dernière édition du festival City Sonic.
Transcultures begins a new partnership with Lizières (Centre of culture and ressources) and the European Pepinieres of Creation for a series of artistic residencies in sound arts. For this first Residence hosted by Lizieres centre, The French-Belgian duet Isa Belle + Paradise Now combines singing bowls, gongs, handrums, voice and guitar with the electronic treatments of the Brussels composer and sound designer Stephan Dunkelman. A second work and recording session is planned at Lizieres in August and will conclude with a performance by this new trio discovered on stage and in environmental mode in the last edition of the City Sonic festival.

Pour sa seizième édition, le festival international des arts sonores City Sonic (initié par Transcultures – Centre intermédia des cultures sonores et numériques) s’est installée dans plusieurs villes brabançonnes (Louvain-la-Neuve, Braine-L’Alleud, Bruxelles) pour se terminer, du 19 au 29 février 2020, par un parcours d’installations et œuvres à dominantes sonores dans le centre ville de Wavre (et ce pour la première fois). avec un parcours sonore au centre ville dans 6 lieux patrimoniaux, culturels et insolites, un itinéraire audio in situ ponctué de concerts singuliers, conférences («partages d’écoutes»), projections, présentations et ateliers jeunes publics.
For its sixteenth edition, the City Sonic international sound arts festival (initiated by Transcultures – Intermedia center for sound and digital cultures) has set up in several cities in Belgian Brabant (Louvain-la-Neuve, Braine-L’Alleud, Brussels) to finish, from 19 to 29 February 2020, with a tour of installations and sound works – for the first time- in Wavre. with a sound itinerary through the city center in six heritage, unusual and cultural places, punctuated by concerts, lectures, screenings + presentations and workshops for young audiences.

aMute (projet à géométrie variable initié par Jérôme Deuson – Belgique) incarne la symbiose entre musique électronique contemplative, mélodies pop et passages abrasifs lorgnant vers le post rock et le shoegazing. Sur ces derniers enregistrements comme dans ce concert intense de cloture du festival City Sonic 2020 à Wavre (Maison des Jeunes Vitamine Z) , Jérôme Deuson (guitare, électronique, batterie, voix) collabore étroitement avec Thècle Joussaud, violoncelliste d’origine française.
aMute (variable geometry project initiated by Jérôme Deuson – Belgium) embodies the symbiosis between contemplative electronic music, pop melodies and abrasive passages eyeing towards post rock and shoegazing. On these latest recordings, as in this intense closing concert of the City Sonic 2020 festival in Wavre (Maison des Jeunes Vitamine Z), Jérôme Deuson (guitar, electronics, drums, voice) works closely with Thècle Joussaud (cello).

LAMAPHI (Lamaφ) est un groupe protéiforme, regroupant des artistes de divers horizons et diverses disciplines, qui a vu le jour à LAMAB ( La MAison A Bruxelles ) fin 2019 sous l’impulsion du musicien JJ Duerinckx.
Dans LAMAPHI, musiciens, danseurs, vidéastes, comédiens… mettent en jeu leurs créativités dans l’instant présent et dans l’interaction organique entre individus. Là où l’intuition, le ressenti oeuvrent et ouvrent la voie vers des imaginaires partagés des formes nouvelles prennent vie.
La recherche artistique du groupe le amène à une forme artistique performative régie uniquement par la capacité de chacun à être en connexion avec l’instant présent et à interagir avec toute stimulation émergente, qu’elle vienne des performeurs ou de l’environnement. Le but est de constituer un corps unique ou chaque individu se met au service de la création collective. L’inspiration vient donc de la rencontre : rencontre avec l’autre, sans distinction entre performeur et spectateur, rencontre avec le lieu et ses caractéristiques, rencontre avec soi même. Le résultat est fragile, déroutant parfois, toujours inattendu et intense dans sa sincérité.
LAMAPHI œuvre dans la ville en tous lieux et circonstances, attirer l’attention du public sur des problématiques sociétales par des actions performatives constitue un de ses engagements artistique.
Le groupe a récemment entamé un cycle de performances filmées. D’autres performances et créations vidéos et sonores (plusieurs ont fait récemment l’objet de diffusion dans le cadre de l’action participative NoLA – No Lockdown Art initié par Transcultures et les Pépnières européennes de Création) suivront durant toute la saison 2020/2021.
LAMAPHI (Lamaφ) is a multifaceted group, bringing together artists from various horizons and various disciplines, which was born at LAMAB (La MAison A Bruxelles) at the end of 2019 under the impulse of the Belgian musician JJ Duerinckx. In LAMAPHI, musicians, dancers, videographers, actors… bring their creativity into play in the present moment and in the organic interaction between individuals. Where intuition and feeling work and open the way to shared imaginaries, new forms come to life.
The group’s artistic research leads it to a performative artistic form governed solely by the ability of each to be in connection with the present moment and to interact with any emerging stimulation, whether it comes from the performers or the environment. The goal is to constitute a single body where each individual puts himself at the service of collective creation. The inspiration therefore comes from the encounter with the other, without distinction between performer and spectator, encounter with the place and its characteristics, encounter with oneself. The result is fragile, sometimes confusing, always unexpected and intense in its sincerity.
LAMAPHI works in the city in all places and circumstances, drawing public attention to societal issues through performative actions is one of its artistic commitments.
The group has recently started a cycle of filmed performances. Other performances and video and sound creations will follow throughout the 2020/2021.
