Before diving into the Summer festivals, Transcultures offers in June a series of events both in Mons (exhibition + performance by hacktivist net artist Systaime in residency), participation to the Mapping knowledge organised by Mundaneum) , the Biennale of contemporary art ARTour in La Louvière (with an Gif exhibition related to the Transnumériques Awards) to concerts in Brussels announcing the next edition of City Sonic. Dans le cadre de sa résidence invité chez Transcultures pour donner une regard décalé et énergétique sur Mons2015, Systaime (initiateur de la plate-forme spamm.fr, de la French Trash Touch ou encore des clips du Docteur Booboo sur Arte Creative…) proposera au sein des locaux de l’association l’Art Chétype, une performance AV, ainsi qu’une exposition de ses productions récentes teintées de glitchs et de références à la pop culture du web 2.0.
As part of his residency at Transcultures who invited him to give a quirky and energetic look at Mons2015, European capital of culture, Systaime (founder the web platform spamm.fr, the French Touch Trash or the fragmented videos of Doctor Booboo Doctor for Arte Creative… ) presents at Art Chétype, a new AV performance and an exhibition of his glitch tinted latest work remixing the Web 2.0 pop culture.

One Moment Free Improv est un collectif à géométrie variable et en perpétuelle expansion, géré sans principe d’autorité, pour une coopération complète entre les intervenants. OMFI est incontestablement animé par un désir de diffuser le plus largement possible la musique improvisée, de l’extraire de certaines chapelles cloisonnées dans lesquelles elle a tendance à être placée, de la rendre accessible à tout public et de tenter de faire disparaître les préjugés dont elle est victime.
En partenariat avec City Sonic (où on retrouvera OMFI pour un événement déambulatoire dans la ville de Mons) et le label Transonic, sont invités les créateurs sonores belges Timo van Luijk et Kris Vanderstraeten pour une collaboration « marquée par des improvisations aériennes qui semblent dévier les lois de la gravité, des moments étendus et libres de toutes formes où la percussion semble imiter des phénomènes naturels et le reste de la palette sonore (objets amplifiés) » (comme décrit par Jérôme Noetinger dans la revue Metamkine) et le percussionniste/poète des sons Nicolas Lelièvre (qui a joué avec entres autres Carlos Zingaro, Joëlle Léandre, Ted Milton, Norscq, Ghédalia Tazartès…) qui est capable de créer un monde avec un coupe tomate, une mélodie de rythmes avec une cymbale, un chant avec un tambour, une danse avec un bout de ferraille.
One Moment Free Improv is a variable collective and ever expanding managed without principle of authority, for a full cooperation between stakeholders. OMFI is undoubtedly motivated by a desire to spread as widely as possible improvised music, to extract some stovepipe chapels in which it tends to be placed, to make it accessible to all age groups and try to do away with prejudices she is the victim.
In partnership with City Sonic (where OMFI will propose an event in the city of Mons in September) and Transonic label, are invited Belgian sound artists Timo van Luijk and Kris Vanderstraeten for a collaboration « marked by improvisations that seem to deviate the laws of gravity, wide moments free from all forms where the percussion seems to mimic natural phenomena and the rest of the sound palette (amplified objects) « (as described by Jerome Noetinger in the French magazine Metamkine) and percussionist/sounds poet Nicolas Lelièvre (who played with among other Carlos Zingaro, Joelle Leandre, Ted Milton, Norscq, Ghédalia Tazartès …) that is capable of creating a world with a cut tomato, melody rhythms with a cymbal, a song with a drum, a dance with a scrap piece.

Le 12 juin, Philippe Franck présentera, à 18h30, au Conservatoire Gabriel Fauré d’Angoulême, à l’invitation de Databaz, centre d’art intermédia, le documentaire qu’il a réalisé, en 2014, avec Anne-Laure Chamboissier et en collaboration avec Gilles Coudert, sur Bernard Heidsieck (inventeur de la poésie-action).
Cette projection sera suivie, à 20h d’une discussion et d’une performance poétique et en action de Charles Pennequin. Le 13 juin, à Databaz, à 16h lors d’une après-midi City Sonic, Philippe Franck présente le livre City Sonic, les arts sonores dans la cité (Editions La Lettre Volée) qu’il a coordonné (avec également des textes de Philippe Baudelot, Gilles Malatray, Alexandre Castant, Anne-Laure Chamboissier, Jean-Paul Dessy et la participation de nombreux créateurs sonores). Cela sera suivi d’un City Sonic mix (productions originales, sound art, poésie sonore, électro expérimental…du festival) par Paradise Now (Optical Sound, Transonic,…).
At the invitation of Databaz , intermedia art center, Philippe Franck will present on June 12th – 6.30pm , at the Conservatory of Angouleme (France), the documentary he directed recently, with Anne -Laure Chamboissier and in collaboration with Gilles Coudert, on the poet Bernard Heidsieck.This screening will be followed by a discussion and an action-poetic performance by Charles Pennequin at 8pm.
On June 13th-4pm, at Databaz for a ‘City Sonic afternoon’, Philippe Franck presents the book « City Sonic sound arts in the city » (published by La lettre volée, Brussels) he coordinated (also featuring essays by Philippe Baudelot Gilles Malatray Alexander Castant, Anne-Laure Chamboissier , Jean-Paul Dessy and the participation of many sound artists) . This will be followed by a City Sonic mix (original pieces of sound art, sound poetry, experimental electro produced by the festival… ) by Paradise Now (Optical Sound , Transonic…).

L’exposition Mapping Knowledge – Comprendre le monde par les données, pose un regard sur la complexité du monde d’aujourd’hui à travers un voyage interactif au cœur de l’information numérisée et connectée. En arpentant des cartographies de données par le biais d’images surprenantes, le Mundaneum invite le visiteur à s’immerger dans un univers visuel propre aux nouvelles technologies.
Cette manifestation internationale (avec des œuvres interactives de Justin Lui, Domestic Data Streamers, Nathalie Miebach, Aleksander Macasev…) qui sera également intégrée dans la biennale Transnumériques (27 novembre-12 décembre 2015) marque également la réouverture et l’agrandissement du bâtiment historique du Mundaneum, qui ici, dans ce contexte du tout numérique, nous offre un peu de recul sur notre volonté à organiser et à centraliser les savoirs du monde.
The exhibition ‘Mapping Knowledge – Understanding the world by the data’, looks at the complexity of today’s world through an interactive journey into the heart of the scanned and connected information. In surveying data mappings through startling images, the Mundaneum invites visitors to immerse themselves in a visual world of new technologies.
This international event (featuring interactive installations and works by Justin Lui , Domestic Data Streamers , Nathalie Miebach , Aleksander Macasev … ) which will also be integrated later into the biennial Transnumériques ( 27 November-12 December 2015 ) also marks the reopening and expansion of the building of the Mundaneum which here, in this context of all-digital, offers a step back on our commitment to organize and centralize the knowledge of the world.

Si les GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) des débuts du Web étaient très simples, une nouvelle génération d’artistes est apparue fin des années 2000 et qui élève aujourd’hui le gif au rang d’œuvre à part entière. Avec de multiples expositions online (mais aussi ces dernières années, des expositions dans des galeries d’art contemporain), le GIF se distingue par rapport à ce qu’il génère comme points de rencontres d’une certaine culture dont il est devenu, si pas l’emblème, en tous cas l’exercice de style…
Une exposition (commissaire artistique : Jacques Urbanska/arts-numeriques.info) dans le cadre de la dixième édition de la Biennale d’art contemporain et patrimoine ARTour (sur le thème cette année du rapport contemporain au travail) initiée par Transcultures qui se prolongera début novembre au Festival Digital Art Taipei (Taiwan) et fin novembre aux Transnumériques@Mons2015.

Quand un violoniste solo virtuose faisant partie de l’ensemble Ictus réussit à allier un chef d’œuvre de la recherche et de l’expérimentation sonore instrumentale, à savoir les 6 Capricci du compositeur italien contemporain Salvatore Sciarrino à la fameuse Chaconne de Bach + le duo lyrico-contempo Quasi Una Fantasia (Pierre-Jean Vranken et la Diva Christina pour Balthazar sur une poème de Heinrich Heine), un set de Dj Chosta, réalisé uniquement à partir de samples des quatuors à cordes de Dmitri Chostakovitch, et un mix dub de Snooba (Radio Panik).
When a violin virtuoso solo part of the Ictus Ensemble successfully combines a masterpiece of research and instrumental sound experimentation , with‘6 Capricci’ by contemporary Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino in the same programme of the famous Bach’Chaconne + the lyrical Austian/Belgian duo Quasi Una Fantasia contempo (Pierre-Jean Vranken and Diva Christina playing ‘Balthazar’ on a poem by Heinrich Heine), a set Dj Chosta made only from samples of string quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich, and a dub mix of Snooba (Radio Panik).

Dans le cadre de sa résidence chez Transcultures, l’artiste-agitateur du réseau Systaime propose une session de workshop (avec des étudiants et jeunes artistes montois, valenciennois et internationaux) basée sur la notion d’avatar et la réinterprétation d’un célèbre symbole montois : le singe. Les participants seront ainsi invités à produire une œuvre numérique collective, à travers la synergie de leurs différents travaux sur ce thème pop-ulaire.
As part of his residency at Transcultures in Mons, the French net/AV artist-remixer Systaime proposes a workshop session (featuring young artists and art students from Mons, Valenciennes…) based on the concept of avatar and reinterpretation of a famous Mons symbol which is the monkey. Participants will be invited to produce a collective digital work, through the synergy of their work on this theme.

Pour ce quatrième et dernier de la première série d’ateliers Sonic Kids menés à Bruxelles aux Brigittines par Transcultures/City Sonic avec Ars Musica, Isa Belle, masseuse holistique et artiste « sonsorielle » vous invite à (re)découvrir les sonorités et vibrations réharmonisantes par le toucher et le corps, via une pratique thérapeutique ancestrale tibétaine qu’elle a revisitée depuis 2005. L’atelier s’adresse au tout public, dont les personnes en situation de handicap physique, ainsi que les enfants à partir de 6 mois.
For this fourth and last of the first Sonic Kids workshops series conducted in Brussels at Brigittines by Transcultures / City Sonic with Ars Musica , Isa Belle, holistic masseuse and sound-sensual artist invites you to (re) discover the healing power of sounds and vibrations on the body, via a Tibetan therapeutic ancestral practice she revisited since 2005. The workshop is aimed at all age groups, including people experiencing physical, and children from 6 months.

Le créateur sonore et multimédiatique Stéphane Kozik sera en résidence AADN avec ses complices (Damien Pairon-créateur image, Julia Hadi, Virag Arany Buza-danseuses/chorégraphes hongroises) à Lyon, avec une présentation publique le 18 juin du projet interdisciplinaire et interactif (danse contemporaine-traitement live des images numériques-création sonore/électronique) Bodyscape présenté, avec succès, précédement à Park in progress/City Sonic en 2014 à Mons et dans d’autres événements internationaux.
The sound and multimedia artist Stéphane Kozik is hosted by AADN in residency in Lyon (France) with his artists partners ( Damien Pairon – image, Julia Hadi, Virag Arany Buza – Hungarian choreographers-dancers), with a public presentation scheduled on June 18th of Bodyscape, an ongoing interdisciplinary and interactive performing project (mixing digital images treatment with contemporary dance and audio creation / electronics), which was successfully presented at Park in progress / City Sonic 2014 in Mons, as well at other international events and venues.
