Cette table ronde examinera comment l’esthétique humaine telle que nous la reconnaissons aujourd’hui, peut laisser apparaître un décalage avec le développement du logiciel, de la robotique et de l’intelligence artificielle. L’esthétique a toujours été liée à la capacité de l’homme à ressentir des émotions. Ainsi, pouvons-nous considérer l’esthétique comme quelque chose qui n’est lié qu’à la «sphère humaine»? Comment l’encadrer dans une société post-humaine, hyper-technologique? Dans le contexte de l’art contemporain, nous discuterons de la possibilité d’une esthétique en dehors d’un discours orienté objet. Considérer l’existence d’une esthétique dématérialisée de données offrant un nouveau format pour travailler avec la réalité. Nous essaierons également de comprendre dans quelle mesure les robots, les logiciels d’Intelligence Artificielle et les algorithmes pourront créer quelque chose qui soit entièrement nouveau. Enfin, nous nous demanderons s’il est possible de considérer la technologie comme non liée à l’humain, à l’organique?

Alain Servais (Moderator): Among the first collectors of digital art, Alain Servais has built up a highly versatile and forward-looking contemporary art collection. | Ahmed Elgammal: Founder and Director of the Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Rutgers University, New Jersey. The lab was formed five years ago and works on aspects of perception and cognition related to human creativity in order to develop artificial intelligence. | Jussi Parikka: New media theorist and Professor in Technological Culture & Aesthetics at Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton), Jussi Parikka is also Docent of digital culture theory at the University of Turku in Finland. | Els Vermang – LAb[au]: Els I. R. L. Vermang (1981) is an artist and curator based in Brussels questioning contemporary aesthetics and semiotics, though algorithmic and conceptual thinking.
