08.03.2017 – Talk/apero philo Laurent de Sutter

Thanks to the recent publication of the “Theory of the Kamikaze” and “Acceleration!” at the Presses Universitaires de France, Transcultures and the Mundaneum invite the Belgian philosopher/editor Laurent de Sutter to cross the socio-cultural-political stakes developed in these two stimulating books.

Born in 2013 by two young PhD students of the London School of Economics, Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams, in the field of political theory, Accelerationism defends the overcoming of capitalism by a new relationship to the future, technology, work and To the economy. The question has rarely been asked in the field of art – despite the success of Accelerationism in contemporary art circles. What can accelerate an image involve? How to do it? Why? Does it even make sense to blend radical aesthetic concerns with the practice of artists? Can we imagine post-capitalist images?

And if the answer to all these questions was where nobody thought of going to seek it: in the images produced by the terrorist attacks? This evening will be hosted by Philippe Franck, director of Transcultures and cultural critic. At the end of the conference and the discussion that will follow, a drink will be offered.
